Why I Travel
Most people don’t actually travel.
They move through places without ever really being in them.
My goal when I travel isn’t to get the perfect Instagram photo.
And it’s not to have a perfectly planned, turn-key escape either.
Those are nice… but I never feel like I actually traveled.
It wasn’t until I went back to Costa Rica after 10 years that something clicked.
I didn’t have everything mapped out.
I was the only one in the group who spoke Spanish (un poquito).
I couldn’t just text a guide if something went wrong.
You just showed up… and let things unfold the way they were supposed to.
A little chaos. A lot of fun.
That’s when I realized — I travel for something different.
I travel to build cultural currency.
The kind you can’t fake.
The kind you only earn by being there.
The street smarts.
The awareness.
The moments where you’re fully present because you have to be.
No Slack. No calendar alerts.
Just you, where you are.
That’s when I feel free.
That’s why I travel.
Why we exist.
Melberty Travel exists to help people explore the world with intention. Not to rush through destinations or consume experiences, but to connect more deeply with places and the people who live there.
We design thoughtful, personalized journeys that prioritize meaning over volume and curiosity over checklists. Travel, when done well, expands perspective, builds empathy, and creates stories that stay with you long after you return home.
In a world that feels increasingly disconnected, we believe travel can still bring people closer together. That is the heart of what we do.
Build your cultural currency.
Life isn’t something you escape from.
Travel is something that adds to who you are while you’re living it.
If you’re ready for something deeper, better, and a little unpredictable… let’s design that trip that adds to who you are.
